The recent court ruling in favor of Pinal County in our lawsuit against Secretary of State Adrian Fontes was always about protecting the rights of every voter and preserving the lawful authority of locally elected county officials to manage elections. Secretary Fontes may want to revisit the lawsuit and the Court’s ruling. Protecting the availability of assistive voting devices for voters with disabilities was part of the very reason we challenged this overreach of state power. His directive would have tied up these limited resources by allowing unrestricted use beyond their intended purpose, potentially reducing access for the voters who rely on them most. What is especially troubling is the attempt to play on the emotions of voters with disabilities and incite fear by falsely suggesting their rights were under attack. That is not what voters should expect from their elected leaders. Voters with disabilities deserve honesty, clarity, and confidence in the election system, not political fear tactics. To suggest that the courts somehow supported disenfranchisement is simply false. By that flawed logic, the courts themselves would be complicit, which is absurd. The truth matters. Transparency matters. The Court sided with the law, with the Constitution, and with the rights of all voters. We hope this finally sets the record straight.
